About TAMN

The Academy of Management Nigeria — advancing management scholarship since 2004

Our Mission

To promote the development of management sciences in Nigeria by creating a platform for management scholars, academics, and practitioners to share knowledge, advance research, and influence policy and practice in management and related disciplines.

Our Vision

To be the foremost professional academy for management scholars in Africa — recognised for the quality of its research output, the distinction of its membership, and its influence on the development of management practice and policy across the continent.

Our History

The Academy of Management Nigeria (TAMN) was founded in 2004 by a group of management scholars who recognised the need for a dedicated professional body to promote the management sciences discipline in Nigeria. TAMN was duly incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria.

Since its founding, the Academy has grown into a respected national body with members drawn from universities, polytechnics, research institutes, and the private sector across Nigeria. Membership spans all major management disciplines including General Management, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Production and Operations Management, and related fields.

The Academy has held its Annual International Conference and AGM every year since 2005. These conferences have been hosted across Nigeria — from Port Harcourt to Abuja, Benin City to Lagos — and have attracted management scholars and practitioners from across the country and beyond. The 2026 conference at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja, marks the 20th edition of this tradition.

In addition to its conferences, TAMN publishes the Nigerian Academy of Management Journal (NAMJ), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that serves as the flagship publication for management research in Nigeria. The Academy also confers the Fellowship of TAMN (FAMN) on distinguished Full Members who have made significant contributions to the discipline.
